All suspects nabbed after S China gas poisonings
All 10 suspects involved in a poisonous gas case were detained last week in the coastal city of Maoming, Guangdong province, Legal Daily reported.
More than 100 people had to be taken to hospitals for treatment after they inhaled the poisonous chemical gas illegally discharged by an automobile maintenance center in Gongguan township, Maoming, in January.
The victims, including 96 middle school students and some nearby villagers, experienced headaches, vomiting and stomachaches after they inhaled the fumes that contained benzene. A nearby automobile maintenance center was investigated by local environment protection department and found to be the culprit, having purchased waste industrial oil from outside the city to illegally process asphalt.
